　 GOOS Project Office 2004 Calendar of Events （Oct.）

　10 March　2000

 The JMA daily SST products will be changed.
 
  They will start the new home-page. And in addition to the daily SSTs, some
 products of JMA will be available in the new home-page. The information
 about the new home-page is notified in another news.
 
  In this modification, the daily SSTs in the directory 'pub/sstanl' will
 move to 'pub/JMA/dailysst', and the coverage will be from 120E to 160E
 and between 20N and 50N. This is because the NOAA/AVHRR data processed
 at Meteorological Satellite Center of Japan used in this analysis does 
 not cover the region west of 120E, the daily SSTs west of 120E are not
 equal in quality to those east of 120E. So the daily SSTs west of 120E
 will be excluded in 'pub/JMA/dailysst'.
  
 The daily SST analysis data that have been provided so far, from 110E to 
 160E and between 20N and 50N, will continue to be available in 'pub/sstanl/'
 until the end of April 2000, but we are planing to stop this afterwards.

　　Following the revision of DMDB has abolished the former registration form and created 　　a new registration system on the web. You should register your name through it.

　　Buoy Data provided by Korea Ocean Research and Development Institute
　　(KORDI) Buoy data provided by KORDI are available from 07 September
　　1999 in the　directory Japan Real Time Database　pub/KORDI.
　　Contents of the data are described　in the WWW site of　KORDI
　　( http://near-goos.kordi.re.kr ).

　　Water temperatures and wind data in the buoy data through KORDI are
　　decoded by JMA, and they are also available in the directory
　　Japan Real Time Database　pub/subst　for　he water temperatures and
　　in Japan Real Time Database　pub/wind for the wind data.

　　GTSPP Quality Controlled Subsurface Temperature & Salinity Data

　　New dataset is available from 15 June 1999 in the directory of Japan Real Time Database pub/GTSPP. The dataset contains temperature and salinity profile observation data extracted from the quality controlled dataset provided by Canada's Marine Environmental Data Service (MEDS), which is responsible for real time data collection and quality control within GTSPP.

　　Contents of the dataset are described in the document file 'README' in the same directory.
